This was my second single origin coffee purchase. The package said it had candied fruit sweetness, raisins, apple, and sweet plum.
Using a Kalita 102, I didn’t really taste the exceptional blend in the coffee. Maybe I was just doing it wrong, but I found it hard to get the right combination for the coffee. Overall, the taste was hard to describe, it was like all the flavors in the description were there, but muddled.
Not giving up on the beans though, I went ahead and got a Hario V60 and a Hario Buono kettle and tried it once again. This time, the flavor was more pronounced. It was more acidic in nature, had a taste of green apple while you drank it and a very sweet candy taste right after the coffee passes through your tongue. The plum flavor came out at the aftertaste and stuck there for a while.
Overall though, the taste was a bit too much for my liking. It was like having all the ingredients fighting against one another and there was no harmony in the coffee taste at all.

#YKW will be coming up, or probably has already come up with new single origin brews, and I can’t wait to get to try them out. So I’ll be off to the shop to buy some more, but probably only after summer has ended. It’s actually way too hot now to even think about brewing, let along drinking coffee.
